Crispy Fried Chicken Wings

My family absolutely LOVES chicken wings!  I used to make them EVERY weekend when we would have people over.  That slowed down because I had a baby but now that my baby is growing more independent I am able to spend the time preparing these awesome wings again!  I have tried so many different fried chicken recipes it's not even funny but this is the last one I came up with that is pretty amazing!  It does take time but it is worth it in the end!  Keep in mind you can use whatever sauce you like and there are tons out there to choose from but this is a basic sauce that my family loves!

Ingredients:

36 chicken wings (cleaned)
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons seasoning salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup milk
oil for frying
1/2 cup Franks brand hot sauce
4 tablespoons butter melted
ranch dressing
blue cheese dressing

You can use either a deep fryer or a deep skillet for frying.  If using a skillet fill about 1/3 of the way with frying oil. If using a deep fryer add oil as you normally would and heat to 400 degrees.  In a gallon size zip baggie add all the dry ingredients and mix well.  Put your milk in a small bowl.  Add a few pieces at a time to the milk and then into the baggie of dry ingredients.  Shake the bag to coat the chicken wings well.  Place the coated chicken wings on a tray and cover with paper towels until the coating starts to become pastey.  This is important to do for the crispiness.  Once the coating on the chicken starts becoming pastey you can add your chicken to your hot oil.  If you are frying in a pan you can flip each piece after about 5 minutes.  If you are frying in a deep fryer you can leave it alone until the chicken's internal temperature is at least 165 degrees or juices run clear!  I use a meat thermometer! Place cooked chicken on paper towels to absorb the oil.  In a large bowl add 1/2 cup hot sauce and melted butter and mix.  Toss the chicken in the sauce and serve with blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing!  You can also use this recipe for regular fried chicken and just leave out the sauce.  Always be sure the chicken is fully cooked before eating!

I hope you enjoy!!
